SCHOOL PLAYING FIELD
The Nith Valley Leaf Trust have initiated the process of obtaining ownership of the school playing field in Closeburn.
It is the aspiration of the Trust to manage the field for the community to utilise the field for more purposes. The aim is to manage the field to a higher standard for sports and increased use for school activities and outdoor teaching space as well as events.
Currently it is understood that under community ownership:
- an installation of a shelter would be beneficial during wet weather
- safety could be improved around the entrance
- views could be improved
- tree and grass management could be improved
- damage caused by rabbit holes could be addressed directly
- disused areas could be restored
The Trust are keen to hear from anybody in the community who would like to express opinions and ideas about what they would like to see being developed on the field site. The current ideas in development are simply to make better use of the site and increase safety aspects of the entrance in a sympathetic manner.
